Bitterleaf is used in the preparation of some Nigerian soups. It has a bitter taste and is medicinal for the body. It is available in fresh and dry forms.

Try this Ogbono Bitter leaf soup recipe when you have free time:

Ingredients

  1. Grounded ogbono
  2. Bitterleaf
  3. Salt
  4. Seasoning cubes
  5. Crayfish
  6. Grounded pepper
  7. Diced onions
  8. Palm oil
  9. Proteins (meat, chicken, goat meat)

Method

  1. Add reasonable quantity of palm oil in the pot
  2. Let it heat up for few minutes
  3. Add your onions and fry for few minutes
  4. Add seasoning cubes
  5. Add your bitterleaf
  6. Add your steamed proteins and let it boil for about 13 minutes
  7. Add more seasoning cubes, pepper and crayfish  as desired.
  8. Add grounded ogbono and let the whole pot boil for 20 – 25 minutes.
  9. Add salt to taste.
