Most of us, hardly ever have time to cook up something before dashing out for the day’s job. Cereal is a great option, helps us save time and gives us a boost of energy to start our day. We have researched and come up with 3 ways you can make your next breakfast cereal not only tasty but healthy.

  1. Watch out for your portion sizes: A standard cereal portion can be anything from half cup to a cup. In most cases, people eat more than that. When cereal shopping, pick one that has less than 200 calories per portion. To keep your portions in check, try using a measuring cup.

2. Aim for cereals with whole grains and high fibre: Did you know refined grains are stripped of fiber and nutrients. In order to make your cereal healthy, pick the ones that have whole grains like wheat, brown rice, and corn. When you eat wholegrains, you get a good amount of vitamins and minerals, which helps your body in various ways. It also can reduce the risk of heart disease, and make you feel fuller, longer. On the other hand, a high-fiber diet can reduce your odds of getting heart disease and type 2 diabetes.

3. Add protein: Protein helps you feel full. You can include a well known protein source like nonfat Greek yogurt with your next bowl of cereal.
